A text message, ready to send.
An SMS QR code opens a new text message to your number with your words already typed, such as JOIN. One tap sends it, which makes it a simple way to collect sign-ups, votes and requests.

What an SMS QR code does
A scan opens a small page on createqr.ai that hands over to the phone's messaging app, with your number and message filled in. If the app does not open by itself, the page shows a link to tap. The person can change the text before sending.
Text messages work on every phone, with no app to install and no account to create. That makes an SMS code a good choice for keyword sign-ups, competition entries, quick polls and service requests.
How to make one in three steps
- Enter the number that should receive the messages, with the country code if people may scan from abroad.
- Write the message, such as JOIN, VOTE A or the name of an offer. Short keywords are the easiest to process.
- Style it, then save and download once the scan test passes.
Where SMS codes work well
- Events: a code on the screen or in the program to vote, ask a question or join a list.
- Shops: a code at the counter to join a text club or ask for a callback.
- Services: a code on a van or a door hanger to book a visit.
- Property signs: a code to ask for the details of a home.
Change the keyword, not the poster
Because the code is dynamic, you can change the number or the message after printing. Run one keyword in spring and another in autumn on the same poster, or move the messages to a new number without touching the print.
Tips and common mistakes
- Make sure the number can receive texts. Some landlines and switchboard numbers cannot.
- Mind the cost for the sender. A text may cost something on some phone plans, especially abroad. For international audiences a WhatsApp code can be the better fit.
- Use one keyword per placement to see which poster or flyer brings in the most messages.
- Ask for permission properly. If you use texts for offers, follow the consent rules where you and your customers are.
